Support Engineering is a group of Mechanical, Electrical and Software Engineers that support the engineering needs at MBARI. We support operational systems and assets and develop new small to medium level engineering developments.

Roles

1. Provide engineering level technical support and leadership to Engineering, Operations and Science.
2. Follow established Engineering processes and procedures to address technical issues with operational systems.
3. Support operational systems, created by MBARI Engineering or purchased from outside sources, which require technical oversight.
4. Provide technical support for projects from the design phase to a completed oceanographic product.

Responsibilities:

1. Engineering level support of operational systems.
2. Training of Operations personnel in the maintenance and configuration of MBARI engineered systems.
3. Coordination of Software, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering level support.
4. Documentation of new and fielded systems.
5. Manage transition of MBARI engineered systems to operations.
6. Assist in the development of test plans and procedures.
7. Assist in test and integration of systems.
8. Serve as point of contact for mission specific modifications of existing MBARI assets.
9. Low level Engineering support of science.
10. Test, calibration and maintenance of analytical electrical and mechanical equipment.
11. Prototype testing and analysis.
